A report released this week by online research company Hitwise shows an increase in demand for second hand goods in the UK over the last 12 months, with online classifieds web sites such as Preloved seeing a big boost in traffic as a result. Between September 2007 And September 2008, UK web searches including the term "second hand" increased by 22%. The most popular search terms included second hand cars, second hand books and second hand furniture. As the first of a number of changes we will be rolling out in the next few months, we have just launched the ability to upload photos to our forums. This will of course make it much easier for people to identify particular engine bay components in our motoring help forums, or use a photo to help find out the age of their caravan. Most importantly though, it means cute pet pics!

Preloved's recent meteoric growth has now been officially recognised by Hitwise, a service that measures the most popular web sites across the globe. In fact, Preloved leaped in at the number 5 spot in their UK "Shopping and Classifieds & Classifieds" category, based on the number of visits between July and September 2007. We are of course delighted and once again we would like to thank all our members, whose enthusiasm for all things second hand is propelling Preloved forward to become the best place to buy and sell on the Internet.

The last six months have been pretty exciting here at Preloved. We started the year with a massive redesign of the site, launching a brand new look and introducing a number of new features and refinements to help bring together buyers and sellers as quickly and as easily as possible. The results have been explosive! In June 2007, the number of pages viewed was double that of December 2006. That's 100% growth in just six months!
